The Turkish pianist and composer Fazil Say is an important musician for whom art and life always belong directly together. Someone like him, who records Ludwig van Beethoven’s 32 piano sonatas, has found his very own way through this cosmos of works, in which loneliness, rebellion and love unite. In an impressive way, Fazil Say has succeeded in viewing the Beethoven sonatas from a unique perspective – on the one hand as a virtuoso, but also as a composer whose 80 or so works are heard today on many podiums around the world.
